An uplifting tribute to Carmen Amaya, scintillating flamenco artist and women’s heritage icon. Her energy resonates in FUGACES, where seven performers capture her earthy intensity through a hybrid language.
Aina Alegre transforms her zapateado into a grounded yet suspended beat. Amid percussive rhythms, flights of physicality and plangent silences, bodies strike, quiver, and are propelled. Alegre revives history’s footprint, making FUGACES a sense-stirring, electrifying dance in which a powerful past sheds light on the dance of today.
