Between the Rhône and the Saône rivers, at the crossroads of the Terreaux district and the foot of the Croix-Rousse hill — in the heart of Lyon — the Opéra National de Lyon stands as an iconic example of contemporary architecture. Renovated in 1993 by architect Jean Nouvel, the opera house features a striking cylindrical glass dome, glowing red on performance nights, resting atop the historic theater façades dating back to 1831.
Inside this architectural gem, the 1,100-seat main auditorium is nestled within a dramatic suspended black shell, embodying a bold vision of modernity and innovation.
🛗 Elevator access: located outside, on either side of the main entrance. ♿ PMR parking: 4 spaces at the LPA Hôtel de Ville parking facility, 1 space on Rue Joseph Serlin, and 1 space on Quai Jean Moulin. Drop-off near the Opera is possible with a Mobility Inclusion Card.
