A former movie theater converted into a performance venue, Théâtre du Point du Jour was founded in the 1960s. Located in the heart of Lyon’s 5th arrondissement, it was originally known as the Théâtre de l’Ouest Lyonnais before adopting its current name. A creation-focused theater led by stage directors, it has been headed by Jean-Louis Martinelli, Michel Raskine, André Guittier, and Gwenaël Morin, among others.

Angélique Clairand and Éric Massé took over the direction of Théâtre du Point du Jour in June 2019. Within this creative space—positioned at the crossroads of emerging stages and major venues in the Lyon metropolitan area—they aim to develop an artistic project centered on linguistic diversity in theater, exploring reality, humanity, and local territories. They are committed to inventing projects that question our present day, craft new narratives, and broaden our perception of the real.
