Frederic Rouarch's installation in the bazar in Saint Jean de Dieu hospital

Formerly the hospital shop, now transformed into a small gallery, the Bazar of Saint Jean de Dieu (ir)regularly hosts exhibitions and other artistic presentations.
For several years, in the Bazar or in others places in the hospital, artists have been invited to imagine « in situ » projects to transform these places in an artistic way to propose to employees and patients a poetic or shifted perspective in the hospital.
Responding to Cécilia’s invitation to invest the Bazar, Frederic Rouarch proposes to work about continuation/extension, with the idea of crossing passing through.
This architectural « madness » partially embedded, is reminiscent of a hopper or a « traboule » that we cross to get quicker to another location.
often work on the idea of extension and I propose here to construct a footbridge in situ. Therefore, this installation will adapt perfectly to the constraints and dimensions of the location. It will be an invitation to pass through.
In a precarious context and for environmental reasons, I wish to use recycled materials, second hand, through circular economy and resources already used in previous constructions (scraps of wood boards / pallets ...). The collection of these materials is also an opportunity to make this project known to contributors and co-operators.
This construction will unfold over time and with the means at hand, from spring to autumn.
This installation will also be an opportunity to question ourselves on what we are going through individually and collectively, unsettled as we are in these tormented times, whether we are hospitalized or simple visitors.
