Flora, flores, fiorii, rich and sensual subject.
I will present my new series of engravings of red botanical inspiration, Cardinal ardent red with the series "Bonhommes" started at the Casa de Velasquez in Madrid around the popular carnivals of Northern Spain.

At first glance, the delicacy of the line and the softness of the paper draw the viewer's eye into the poetic world of a curious artist.
The "empapillonneur" and "l'essaimeuse" meet in drypoints enhanced around a facetious universe where the plant branches out into fabulous and enigmatic forms.
Didier Hamey, collector of small fragile treasures, assembles and diverts to create works in volume whose grace reveals the subtle work of a "poet of all possibilities" (Alain Jouffroy)

My work reveals a forgotten world, with its chimeras, its buried dreams, its lost languages, its murmurs. The Bonshommes series started at the Casa de Velasquez in Madrid is inspired by the representation of wild beings in the popular carnivals of Northern Spain, a celebration of the telluric forces of nature. A series of engravings where animals, humans and divinities are all mixed together, forming the sensitive fauna of an imaginary forest that is delicate, profound and infinitely beautiful because it is alive. This world is wild and teeming as was the Nature forgotten by man.

I will also present at the Usine my latest series of engravings of botanical inspiration in red, Cardinal ardent red. Fiorii is a set of flowers with multiple faces, a floral fairy tale symbiosis of the heart of man. A hybridization between the plant kingdom and the human being, like a joyful explosion of suspended fireworks where everyone can find their counterpart.

Alain Jouffroy said of my work, "Hidden violence of extreme gentleness", words that define my intentions well. Attentive to the miracle of nature, to its fantastical and hybrid desires, this series corresponds to a furious attempt to reconcile man with primitive and wild nature.
Like a vocation without aggression, or even an obligatory duty of natural census, an occult ceremony intended to educate to the wild and primitive nature. For me, these enchanting bouquets are the spokespersons of a claim to natural spontaneity and the joy of living. Didier Hamey
