The exhibition is less concerned with depicting the encounter than with observing what it produces. In the watercolours, the blending of two colours gives rise to an intermediate zone, an in-between space that belongs to neither of the two original hues. The same principle guides the sound work: two motifs, two textures, two durations respond to one another and give rise to a space of perception that is neither quite an image nor quite a sound.

The paintings follow a precise protocol: two colours are brought together, the water and pigments diffuse, the layers are superimposed and reveal variations that are sometimes minute. The same gesture, when repeated, never yields the same result twice — the quantity of pigment, the intensity, and the way the colours interact introduce small differences each time. These variations invite the viewer to slow down their gaze and follow, within the image, these subtle transformations.

Painting and music are created in parallel, following the same logic of repetition and variation. Throughout the exhibition, the sound compositions are played through speakers in the gallery, creating, together with the paintings, a shared space where sight and hearing converge — two gestures from the same hand, two forms of the same exploration.

Per Lamdahl J. is a Danish artist and composer based in Lyon. His practice encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture, works on paper and sound compositions, with a particular interest in colour, material, form and perception. He has lived and worked in Lyon since 2004.
