GAMUT is delighted to participate in the 18th edition of the Lyon Biennale with a group exhibition of our resident artists focused on the theme of dreams and nightmares. This will be the association's last event at Fort St. Just: an opportunity not to be missed!

The Bastion Saint-Just is a unique place. Entrusted to the Gamut association by the Voies navigables de France from 2019 to 2026, this labyrinthine architectural complex, suspended between the city and the river, houses a community of artists in residence.

"À l’ombre des pavots" brings these artists together around the theme "From One Dream to Another,"directly echoing the theme of the Biennale. The works presented bear witness to the diversity of ongoing research at the Fort: some confront the nightmare of the present; others offer answers, often through a return to the archaic, the organic, to natural materials. In their quest for truth through imagination, dreams and artistic exploration share a profound kinship. Greek mythology gave a name to this ambivalence. Three brothers dwell on the banks of Lethe, the River of Oblivion, in a cave surrounded by poppies. Morpheus, Ichelus, and Phantasos forge dreams each night, which they then introduce into the world of the living. This group exhibition is therefore an invitation to embrace the power of imagination and dreams, an instrument of freedom, catharsis, and fantasy accessible to all: here, in the darkness of the cave, in the shade of the poppies, we are still free.

Fort St-Just will be open from 2PM to 7 PM from October 24th to 31st; 400 meters from the St. Just funicular stop.
