Artists Michel Castaignet, Kathrin Landa, Florence Obrecht, Axel Pahlavi, Alexej Tchernyi, Alex Tennigkeit, and Wu Zhi come together for the group exhibition Aambulanz Rrétrospéctive.
The Berlin-based collective Aambulanz Kollektiv brings together seven artists from Germany, France,Ukraine, Iran and China. While their individual practices consist primarily in painting and drawing, the collective expands these mediums to sculpture, architecture and mural painting, embracing a multi-disciplinary approach.
In their works, daily life meets the surreal, personal memories intertwine with the aesthetics of historical artistic movements : echoes of Symbolism and references to historical paintings from Iran blend together to form an intricate and imaginative universe. For Aambulanz Rrétrospective, the seven artists will transform the former ballroom – now an exhibition space – with pictures, sculptures, a mural painting and a pavilion-like structure, built in the spirit of Venice Biennale and the grand architecture of the historic World’s Fairs.
Intimacy and humour co exist in the exhibition, alongside a playful critical perspective and a genuine love for painting.
