Hillary Benkemoun Korkut presents at KOMMET an environment of objects diverted from their original functions, situated somewhere between domestic furniture and forms borrowed from the fairground. Enlarged, transformed, or hybridized, these structures create a landscape of islands designed to be activated by visitors.
The installation is organized around container-like forms that are shifted into the imaginative world of the funfair. Boxes, drawers, candy jars, and dispensers reenact functions of storage and display while inviting simple actions such as taking, choosing, or activating. Familiar objects come together to form a personal mythology, oscillating between childhood nostalgia and the desire invested in objects.
Born in 1999, Hillary Benkemoun Korkut lives and works in Lyon.
