Explore the many imaginaries of water as you wander through Villeurbanne’s hidden spaces. From the chemistry of water to the tears of the Titans, actor Pierre-Jean Etienne guides you through poetic, scientific, political, and mythical worlds.
Explore the many imaginaries of water as you wander along off-the-beaten-track paths and through suspended spaces in Villeurbanne. This walk, which begins in a new park, traces the area along water trails that take you through poetic, scientific, political, and mythical realms.
As you make your way along the route, you’ll be invited to choose from a selection of self care items: a toothbrush, massage oil, a comb, lip balm… each linked to a text that the actor will bring to life through a live performance.
Drawing on various texts, Pierre Jean Etienne weaves a history of water that begins in the tears of the Titans, passes through the ice and steam of civilisations, and culminates in the pleasure of washing. This journey, both poetic and rigorous, explores societies, water related places, conflicts, and the organisation of cities.
To dream of utopian visions of living together, reflect on spaces of urban hospitality, and imagine more humane cities, LALCA has been focusing on access to water for several years. By enriching reflections on the urban fabric with lived realities, a freely accessible shower for everyone was inaugurated at Le Rize in 2025. “Des mots d’eau” or how today’s dreams can transform tomorrow’s society.
