As you wander through the streets, Cobie’s collages pop up where you least expect them. With humor and a touch of mischief, they create unexpected moments in the urban landscape and invite you to rediscover the city in a new light.
Cobie has been putting up posters in the street since 2001. Hand-screen-printed, they combine absurd aphorisms and dark humour, under a banner he has dubbed ‘le cas échéant’. He is not alone in this venture: Xéa and 5 Doigts, his long-standing collaborators, author or co-author some of the slogans.
For a long time, he didn’t see himself as an artist, but rather as someone who stuck silly things up in the street. As for his name, Cobie, he borrowed it from his dog, which allows him, with a touch of mischief, to deny being the author of his own works once they’re on display.
Spacejunk is not unfamiliar territory for him: he has previously exhibited there, first in Lyon and then in Grenoble in 2021.
