This unprecedented retrospective brings together the iconic monumental works of American artist Frank Stella.
As part of the anniversary of the United States’ independence, the Musée d’art moderne et contemporain de Saint-Étienne Métropole presents two exhibitions dedicated to American art, including a major retrospective devoted to Frank Stella, a key figure of American abstraction. The first monographic exhibition in France since the artist’s passing, it traces more than sixty years of creation through around one hundred works: paintings, sculptures, prints, and architectural projects.
Developed from works held in the museum’s collection and through an exceptional collaboration with the Addison Gallery of American Art, the exhibition highlights the artist’s wide range of experiments and the constant evolution of his practice, from the 1950s to the present day.
