La Biennale du Maquis

Moored in the heart of Lyon’s Confluence district, Le Maquis transforms its floating cultural venue into a space for exhibitions and encounters as part of the Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art.

In resonance with this year's theme, "From One Dream to Another," three artistic practices invite visitors on distinct sensory journeys.

With Aurora, Thomas Monin brings forth a monumental whale, a luminous presence suspended between appearance and disappearance, inviting us to reflect on our relationship with the living world.

In Out of Time, Aurora Zanabria explores fog as a photographic medium. Boundaries dissolve, perception slows, and uncertainty becomes an invitation to imagine rather than to master reality.

With Eaurigine, Martin Colognoli offers a photographic immersion in which water becomes a passage between sky and depth, science and emotion, memory and becoming.

Conceived as a journey, the exhibition extends beyond the artworks through talks, screenings, conferences, readings and musical performances, bringing together artists, scientists and the public to explore the relationships between humanity, the living world and ecological imaginaries. In this way, Le Maquis becomes a place of transition where contemporary art, research and civic engagement meet on the water.
