Permanently installed at Lake Frans since September 1, 2025, The Wave is a monumental sculpture made from reclaimed steel. It interacts with the landscape and invites visitors to become part of the artwork through the participatory project Sculptures in Dialogue.

Permanently installed in the middle of Lake Frans since September 1, 2025, The Wave is a monumental sculpture made from reclaimed steel, commissioned by the Municipality of Frans and the Dombes Saône Vallée Community of Municipalities.

Inspired by the former narrow-gauge railway that once crossed the village, the sculpture creates a dialogue between heritage, nature and people. Emerging from the water, it interacts with reflections, light, seasons and local biodiversity.

Made entirely from reclaimed steel and installed by hand using traditional techniques, the artwork reflects a sustainable and artisanal approach.

Accessible free of charge throughout the year, the sculpture is accompanied by an interpretive panel.

Through the participatory project Sculptures in Dialogue, visitors are invited to photograph the artwork and share their own interpretation via a QR code. Each photograph becomes a new reading of the sculpture, making every visitor an active participant in the artwork.
