The Look Bar becomes the setting for an exhibition where artworks intertwine with conversations, reflections and encounters. A sensitive journey bringing together contemporary artists around an original work by František Kupka.
The Look Bar is a nightlife venue where gazes, bodies and appearances become part of a shared staging. Its architecture — a monumental mirror, velvet curtains, multiple levels and shifting viewpoints — creates a theatrical setting in which everyone becomes, in turn, both observer and image.
Initiated by artist and INTERIOR and the collectors (Arles–Lyon) co-founder Fabien Villon, LOOKOUT takes the venue itself as its point of departure. The invited artists present new works conceived in dialogue with its uses, rhythms and temporality, alongside an original work by František Kupka, a pioneering figure of abstraction. These interventions subtly shift the way we inhabit and experience the place, without ever interrupting the life that animates it.
By taking place within a space of hospitality, LOOKOUT explores how artworks are encountered as much as they are viewed. There is no prescribed route or single narrative. Meaning emerges through conversations, encounters and chance. Those who bring the Look Bar to life become the exhibition's first hosts, turning the Look Bar into a lookout turned inward: a threshold where attention shifts and shared experience becomes more important than its image.
