During their research and creative residency in the spring and summer of 2026, the artist duo Sarah Laaroussi and Matteo Magnant, known as Atelier Bicéphale, are developing a project rooted in their everyday lives: ‘Habiter la pente’.
In Saint-Gervais, they hope to write a new chapter in this performative, participatory project, which began in Thiers, a town in the foothills of the mountains, where they have been living and working since 2020. This project explores the connections we have with our environment. Drawing inspiration from scientific and ethnographic approaches, they set out to meet the inhabitants of a region to better understand how they live there and to conceive sculptural tools that reflect everyday objects specific to the location where the residency takes place.
The “Relevés” project, conceived for the residency at the Maison forte de Hautetour, aims to develop a participatory artistic project, transforming this site into a space for experimentation, production and civic dialogue focused on the future of the region, whilst experimenting with “the creation of measuring tools” that reconnect us with our environments.
