Sinking Office

ALF / LFA Presentation — Led by LFA, the ALF association disseminates and promotes research in contemporary art, architecture, culinary design, and sound experiences. To share these resources with the public and enrich the agency’s work, ALF invites an artist each quarter to design a site-specific installation.

Sinking Office — Anna Jaccoud This project echoes the artistic vision of the 2026 edition of the Lyon Biennale, calling for a “shift in perspective.” By occupying the meeting room—which she makes the subject of her work—“in situ,” Anna Jaccoud explores the corporate world. Integrating into the room while respecting the height of 73 cm (a reference to the seat of Thonet’s Chair No. 14, 1859), the work transforms office ergonomics and furniture.

Through her artistic gesture — the overturning of the furniture—the artist enacts this shift and takes the surface of the tables as a reference level. She seeks a new space, submerged beneath the desk, to understand its construction. By revealing the space dedicated to the body (camouflaged horizontally), the installation creates a passage, an awakening to the “collective dream produced by capitalism” that keeps the body trapped within an artifact. Sinking Office thus reflects on the subterranean and alienating dimension of the corporate world, bringing it to the surface.Public [français] : tout public
