A Dream That Never Sleeps

Some dreams refuse to fade upon waking. They persist, take root, and shape bodies and forms long after the night has passed.

A Dream That Never Sleeps brings together seven artists around this resilience: imaginations that continue to act, memories that refuse to be erased, and utopias that remain standing despite the pressure of reality.

Echoing the 18th Lyon Biennale—From One Dream to Another—the exhibition takes over Friche Artistique Lamartine, a place itself born from a collective dream that has never been abandoned. Video, ceramics, photography, poetry, and performance meet and collide there, like pyrite and flint, producing sparks.

Jérôme Dupré la Tour and UNDAE present Écarts, a hypnotic video triptych conceived between the two rivers of Lyon’s Presqu'île and revisited ten years after its creation. Isabelle Paquet and Bruno Dubreuil bring poetic writing and photography into dialogue without prior consultation, allowing the unexpected to emerge. Raphaëlle Sabattié shapes clay to the brink of collapse, revealing in the raw material the trace of every gesture. Vincent Lorgé transforms plates into pictorial spaces in homage to Duchamp, while Benjamin Machecourt sculpts nocturnal movement through his choreographic gesture.

Pionchon Hall at Friche Artistique Lamartine provides the setting for this group exhibition.
