To mark the centenary of the birth of visionary French composer Pierre Boulez, choreographer (but also musician and visual artist) Tânia Carvalho has conceived this unique, cross-disciplinary walkabout in Lyon’s Musée des Beaux- Arts.

Between statues in a leafy cloister and in halls hung with masterpieces, musicians and dancers take you promenading. Music, bodies and movements unite and converse with the pictorial heritage. Doing justice to the visionary Boulez could only be envisaged with a total artwork – a novel kind of opera that is emphatically of the 21st century. Accompanied by a new generation of student artists, Tânia Carvalho brings Pierre Boulez’s legacy, his bold spirit and his taste for transmission vividly to life.
