For Albert Camus, Sisyphus represented the human condition: stuck in an endless cycle of futile and hopeless labours. Choreographer François Veyrunes devotes the third part of his dance trilogy on mythology to this doomed character. But, as Camus pointed out, “The struggle toward the summit is, in itself, enough to fill a man’s heart. We must imagine that Sisyphus is happy.” The six dancers invite the audience to share in this physical undertaking, in an uncompromising choreographic language.
