Sarah Battaglia is a French artist and a graduate of the Annecy School of Art. Through drawing, engraving, ceramics, and sculpture, she explores the connection to the living world. Inspired by nature and the wild, she creates sensitive and poetic works that question memory, fragility, and the beauty of life.
Through her work, Sarah Battaglia explores the traces of life and the forms of memory inscribed in matter. Collecting, drawing and engraving fragments of organic or vegetable origin, she pays attention to what remains, transforms or disappears. Her work reveals the particularly fragile link between humans and the wild world, and all our dependencies on other forms of life.
Her work is born from an approach where observation and care are combined with a reflection on contemporary ecological upheavals, inviting us to consider the gradual disappearance of many non-human beings not as an abstraction, but as a reality that engages our collective responsibility and the need to unfold new narratives. The fragments she collects become silent witnesses of vulnerable existences, placed at the center of the experience of contemplation and questioning.
The exhibition NOM VOYANT unfolds for the first time the artist’s relationship with poetry and language that permeates this approach. From its title, it questions the mechanisms that determine what is seen, named or relegated to the shadows. Here, the speed of the world meets the attentive slowness of the artistic gesture, offering a place to what is fragile, discreet or marginalized. It invites the visitor to a sensitive experience where attention, exchange and care become as many ways to revalue the living.
