Biography

Kirtika Kain draws on materials laden with symbolic meaning, such as gold, copper, vermilion and bitumen — substances historically tied to manual labour, ritual and systems of value. Through an experimental printmaking practice, she transforms these materials into dense and luminous surfaces. Repetition, manual gesture and sedimentation structure her approach, transforming collective representations and projections linked to the caste system, while exploring how hierarchies and beliefs are inscribed in matter.
