GALERIE 48 Mari Katagiri opened in 2012 in Lyon’s art gallery district.

It focuses on contemporary painting, whilst also showcasing photography. It highlights works by artists with a unique perspective, engaged in a personal and profound artistic exploration. It also helps to raise awareness in France of the diversity of contemporary Japanese artistic creation.

Since 2023, it has been operating as a travelling gallery, organising its exhibitions in different venues depending on the project.

In November, it is presenting works by Hitonari TSUJI at La petite galerie, in the Croix-Rousse district.

Hitonari TSUJI is a rare figure in the Japanese art scene: his creative practice moves freely between painting, literature, and music. The essence of his work lies not in diversity, but in his unwavering commitment to an inner necessity to create. Refusing to separate creation, life, and expression, his approach resonates deeply with Robert Filliou’s principles of Poetic Economy. On view November 4–22.
