Le Bleu du ciel is a 1901 association, created in 1999 on the initiative of Gilles and Marie-Jeanne Verneret and supported from the beginning by the City of Lyon, the Regional Council and the Ministry of Culture. This art space is dedicated to the display of contemporary photography and images, oriented towards the documentary vision. This documentary-style approach to the image is situated at the crossroads of the transversal disciplines of sociology, history, architecture, urbanism, anthropology and, above all, poetry, in this world that never stops recording and producing photographs.

It focuses on the notion of representation and sampling, which, with the help of these multi-disciplinary sciences, in the spirit of "great literature", allows us to reflect on the issue of "art and image" in our societies, questions that the artist, who has become the witness and societal poet of an era, is now asking.

Exposition Home away from home

Le Bleu du ciel

Home away from home is a Franco-American photographic project produced in 2017 as part of the Immersion program launched by the Hermès and Aperture foundations, for which the artist and photographer Taysir Batniji set out to retrace the history of his Palestinian cousins who immigrated to the United States since the 1960s.

Taysir Batniji thus questions the notions of uprooting and migration. He makes us think about the meaning of exile and the different degrees of rootedness in the country of adoption. The attachment to the homeland, the feeling of belonging, the origins and the cultural adaptation are at the heart of his project.

Logistics is the organisation of the storage and transport of raw materials, industrial components and goods from the place of manufacture to the place of consumption. The image of 'just-in-time' and the promises of its digitalisation present this activity as a continuous, self-regulating flow of goods.
