The city of Écully and the Association Sculpture Taille Directe invite Vincent BREED to exhibit his works at the Cultural Center and in its park. The members of STD will be exhibiting together with him and will show exclusive works created with him.

Vincent BREED approaches glass as a contemporary art material and a medium of plastic expression. It is the process of creation that underlies his approach in a permanent questioning of reality and a quest for identity.

"What interests me about glass is its similarity to the human character, its apparent fragility and lightness, its ability to retain its natural transparency or to cultivate secrecy through a subtle play of opacity, to become a vector of light.

He explores and shows how confused our only visual criteria for understanding are. What the glass captures, diffracts, diffuses or reflects is merely a temporary deposit taken from the form. By freezing it in the time of the gesture, it prolongs the history between the form, its environment and the viewer.

In Brussieu, he has created the largest independent glass research and development laboratory in France.

Sculpture Taille Directe, a local association with more than 25 years of existence, with about sixty members, is part of the cultural landscape of western Lyon. It takes its name from the technique of sculpture known as "direct carving" which consists of working without a precise model, without copying and leaving room for a certain spontaneity and inventiveness in the work of the sculptor.

The pieces produced by its members during two experimental work sessions in Vincent BREED's studio are displayed in dialogue with the artist's works.
