GlassArt2026 offers a panorama of contemporary glass creation. Centered on the theme “False Pretence,” the exhibition brings together artists, designers, and master craftspeople who explore the ambiguities of glass, between transparency, illusion and revelation.

GlassArt2026 is an exhibition dedicated to contemporary glass creation. Bringing together works from contemporary art, design, and fine crafts, it highlights the richness and diversity of today’s glassmaking scene.

The exhibition fosters dialogue between established artists and emerging talents, showcasing the full spectrum of contemporary glass creation. While glassmaking skills were inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2023, many workshops are now threatened by rising energy costs. GlassArt2026 pays tribute to the artists, designers, and craftspeople who keep these exceptional skills alive.

For this edition, the theme “False Pretence” resonates with the invitation to “move from one dream to another.” Through the unique properties of glass, transparency, reflection, distortion, and opacity, artists explore the shifting boundaries between imagination and reality. What we believe we see becomes transformed, blurred, or revealed in unexpected ways. Glass thus becomes a space of transition, where appearances are challenged and new perceptions emerge.

Exhibition from October 15 to December 8, 2026, at the Lyon 1st District Library, France.
