VESTIGES DE L'ÉPHÉMÈRE is an interdisciplinary art project that reflects on the relationship between somatic expression and architectural transformation. Based on performative public interventions, the artists capture physical traces of the typical traboules of Lyon to generate an exhibition that guards their psychogeographic experience as viewed in an installation, video, and photographic documentation.

Hector CANONGE and Wilson TAPIA’s VESTIGES DE L’ÉPHÉMÈRE (Remnants of the Ephemeral) is a collaborative interdisciplinary art project that reflects on the relationship between somatic action and architectural transformation. Through performative public interventions in Lyon’s typical traboules (passageways), the artists develop a generative process that captures physical imprints from the city’s walls using their own bodies.

This transcription—which they termed "somatic decalcomania"—allows for the translation, interpretation, and simultaneous creation of a psychogeographical experience of the public habitat and its production economies over time. The project also addresses possible interpretations of socio-geographic, cultural, and temporal experiences and how they prompt a shift in perception -how the inhabitants of Lyon and its visitors perceive public spaces.

VESTIGES DE L’ÉPHÉMÈRE comprises public performance interventions, an exhibition, workshops, a conference and artists talk. The performance interventions evoke Lyon’s historical and economic vitality by recalling the constant flow of people—traders, migrants, merchants, and so on—while also referencing the situational nature of a space or territory, highlighting cultural diversity as well as the flow of ideas and artistic practices. The exhibition at the Maison des Dauphins - La Tour du Pin presents elements generated during each public intervention and takes the form of a site-specific installation featuring gauze printed with natural ochres, photographic plates showing structural details, videos of the performances, and archival materials used in the performances. The project also includes the workshop “The Body as Architectural Territory” and the conference "Performance and Psychogeography" where the artists will talk about their work and engage in dialogue with audiences.
