Tout se touche
Exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center of Lacoux, 55th Season
Everything moves, you told me?"

Tell me, what does not move?

Sylvie Sauvageon (born in 1963 in the Drôme region, France) lives and works in Lyon

Her practice stems from a close attention to everyday images and objects: book covers, photographs, wallpaper, postcards, packaging, and souvenirs gathered during her walks. Working with coloured pencils, gouache, paper, and wood, she transforms collecting into an act of remembrance. Patiently copying the images she gathers, she then rearranges them into installations, image walls, and archive-like structures, revealing the invisible connections that bind things together.

Marie-Claire Mitout, who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon before joining Christian Boltanski's studio at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris

She has been developing The Most Beautiful Hours since 1990, an ongoing body of work comprising more than 1,250 gouache paintings on paper. Informed by the thinking of Joseph Beuys, Robert Filliou, and Fernando Pessoa, her practice treats painting as both a way of life and a philosophical inquiry. Combining colour, language, and states of consciousness, her works give form to brief affirmations and open reflections such as "I love everything," "I am here," and "Everything touches." Her work has been exhibited widely i
