No one can disregard the street; it is everyone’s business. A place of a thousand faces, which Brazilian choreographer Volmir Cordeiro has chosen to embody in a percussive solo fuelled by the rhythms of Washington Timbó.

In Rue, Volmir Cordeiro turns the street into a space of struggle and revelation. This intense solo, performed to live percussion by Washington Timbó, captures a world in motion – joyful, raw, and political. Drawing on Brecht’s war poems and a physical language blending samba, capoeira and urban gestures, Cordeiro embodies a street where refuge and revolt collide. Rue is a visceral dance of survival and resilience – stepping into it is like stepping into the unknown, ready to be transformed.
