A seasoned professional in the cultural sector, Cécile Bourgeat has held key management positions for
many years at the Institut Lumière in Lyon, where she contributed to the influence and prestige of this
emblematic institution dedicated to cinematic heritage. She has also worked in the social sector, notably
with Alynea and Samu Social 69.
In her new role, Cécile Bourgeat will oversee all of the Biennale’s activities and ensure the smooth functioning of the organization. She will strengthen its structure, lead its
operational and financial management, and supervise the work of its teams.
To further enhance the cultural and artistic impact of the institution, she will work in close collaboration with the Biennale’s two Artistic Directors — Isabelle Bertolotti, Artistic Director of the Biennale of Contemporary Art, and Tiago Guedes, Artistic Director of the Biennale de la Danse.
She will continue to foster strong dialogue with the French State and local authorities, whose support for artistic creation ensures the Biennale de Lyon’s international reach. She will also seek to expand the institution’s relationships with private-sector partners across various fields, with the goal of fostering new economic balances.
Expanding the Biennale’s audiences and reaching people who are more distant from its artistic disciplines will remain a key objective of her mission.
The entire team is delighted to welcome her and wishes her every successin this new chapter.
