Designed by the architect Mario Botta, as part of the main architectural and urban planning operations, which marked the French scene during the Mitterrand era, the MLIS opened its doors in 1988.
Dedicated to the spread of contemporary art, l’artothèque offers the possibility of discovering art from the early 1970s to the present day, through the loan of works of art from its collection. With 1,780 works, it offers a broad overview of the current art scene. L’artothèque also has a programme of exhibitions, specially designed for its space.
