The artist’s two paintings present bodies caught between life and death. Drawing on the unresolved legacy of the Kosovo War, where many remain missing and families continue to live without closure, Milazimi returns to the conditions of waiting that shape postconflict society. In Saturn, a crimson figure encloses the skeleton of a child. The Roman god of time was also said to have devoured his own children, fearing they would one day overthrow him. Here the child remains visible within the body that sought to erase it. In Untitled, a wounded figure lies beneath the vigil of a hooded witness. Composed of thousands of tiny dots, the image never fully settles: bodies cohere at a distance and dissolve at close range, giving form to the tenuous persistence of memory.

Brilant Milazimi translates his perception of the world that surrounds him into images that are bitter, funny, tender, and weird all at the same time. Driven by the machinery of the unconscious, and inspired by the imaginaries of fictional universes, he finds expressions both sinister and poetical for an approach to the society he lives in: the exaggerated physiognomies and the highlighted symbolism of the teeth or the features of the animals are visual manifestations that point to the present and its conflicts.
