Núria Güell presents Renaud Suanez – Degenerate Political Art. Epstein – Lang connection, 2026

This is not your ordinary art-fair booth. Or perhaps it is. Here Núria Güell uses her method of “Analytic Replica” to reproduce the financial and institutional mechanisms through which political and economic elites operate. To activate the project, Güell created Prytanee LLC ART Gallery and registered it in Cuba, treated within the work as a tax haven. The gallery takes its name from Prytanee LLC, an offshore company established by Jeffrey Epstein in partnership with Caroline Lang to speculate through the buying and selling of contemporary art. Its name, in turn, refers to the Prytanée national militaire, an elite French military school. Drawing on public allegations of tax fraud and money laundering concerning Caroline Lang and her father, former French culture minister Jack Lang, Güell restages the mechanisms at the centre of the case. A large-scale painting commissioned from emerging Brussels-based French figurative painter Renaud Suanez is offered for sale, while gallery staff explain how tax engineering, offshore companies and philanthropy shape the production, circulation and financial valuation of artworks.

Núria Güell situates her practice within legal, economic and institutional systems in order to expose their contradictions. Her work often unfolds through collaborations, involving individuals positioned at the margins of these structures. By redistributing forms of agency, her practice challenges dominant norms, foregrounding the ethical and political implications of participation, authorship and responsibility.
