TINA MARAIS — TEXTILE SURFACES & ORGANIC TEXTURES

Presented alongside Traversées des Bleus, Tina Marais’s workshop invites participants to explore textile as a space for experimentation, transformation and material memory.

Through a series of practical approaches, participants will discover reverse appliqué, the creation of organic textures and different ways of working with the textile surface. Sewing, cutting, layering and transforming materials become tools for exploring texture, relief and the expressive potential of fabric.

Echoing Tina Marais’s artistic practice, which moves between sculpture, textile, and material experimentation, the workshop focuses on traces, gestures and transformations. Participants are encouraged to experiment freely, allowing materials and processes to guide the development of forms and surfaces.

Open to all levels, the workshop offers a space for discovery and making, where each participant can develop a personal approach and create a small individual work.

Presented in resonance with Traversées des Bleus at the Chapelle de la Buissière and the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, this workshop extends the exhibition’s exploration of materials, transformation and the relationships between gesture, memory and imagination.
