D’un massif à l’autrebrings together Appartement 22 (Rabat) and La Halle (Pont-en-Royans) for an artistic project exploring spaces, movements, and memories. The project questions the construction of identities and collective narratives, revealing unexpected connections. The stories resonate elsewhere, memory becomes collective, and specificities become gateways to universality.

Fifteen years after their first collaboration - on the occasion of the exhibition Surveillé(e)s in 2011 -, Appartement 22 (Rabat, Morocco) and La Halle (Pont-en-Royans, France) are joining forces for a new project. Driven by shared concerns, the two structures are carrying out the initiative, D'un massif à l'autre (From One Massif to Another), which unfolds in several phases and timeframes through residencies, productions, encounters, podcasts, and exhibitions...

D'un massif à l'autre questions above all spaces and geographies, and physical, mental, and imaginary displacements. The invited artists propose works that develop from affinities with the context of the invitation. They work in direct engagement with places whose histories are complementary and whose geographies are related. In other words, the works shown were created after (and during) explorations of the Rif region (Morocco) or the Vercors region (France), but their resonance extends beyond this localized starting point, creating unexpected correspondences.

What emerges is an observation: artistic practice is going through an era of transformation in which the temporality of the work is constantly diluted between physical spaces and digital glimpses. It is in this in-between space that the project anchors its reflection. Artists explore contexts with strong local roots to produce works that transcend their points of origin. The starting point is territorialized, but it dissolves: the narratives resonate elsewhere, memory becomes collective, and specificities become vehicles for universality.

D'un massif à l'autre thus aims to bring forth plural perspectives and to question current, cross-cutting subjects, while interrogating the mechanisms by which memories, identities, and collective representations are constructed within fluid geographies.

Featuring the works of Oumayma Abouzid Souali, Khadija El Abyad, Mustapha Akrim, Nassim Azarzar, Ro Caminal, Dominique Hurth, Karim Rafi
