La Biennale de Lyon – Dance is partnering with the Keir Foundation, founded by Australian philanthropist Phillip Keir, to create the Keir Choreographic International Fund (KCIF).
With €100,000 awarded every two years, this new fund will support one or more non-European artists, with a particular focus on artists from the Global South, providing them with the resources they need to develop their practices and projects under better conditions.
Beyond supporting artistic creation, the KCIF also includes a mobility grant for an emerging artist, as well as dedicated support through an international network of 11 partner organisations across four continents.
The selected artists will be supported throughout the creation process, including a fully funded technical residency, before presenting their work in Lyon during the Biennale de la danse in September 2027, and subsequently taking it on tour.
This collaboration has been made possible thanks to the support of the French Australian Cultural Exchange Foundation (FACEF), which works to develop lasting artistic and cultural collaborations between France and Australia.
Through this new fund, la Biennale de Lyon is pursuing its commitment to international cooperation based on reciprocity, diversity of practices and the sharing of resources.
