Melding sound, movement and material, Leather Better explores leather’s sensoriality and probes masculinity.
Andréa Givanovitch transforms a leather jacket into sound, gesture and constraint. Repetition, exhaustion, exhilaration: the leather jacket, a symbol of virility, is deconstructed and gives way to new hybrid identities. As the choreography progresses, the uniform becomes a burden and constraint turns to liberation. A revolt against rigid norms, Leather Better celebrates the queer body and reinvention.
