At the centre of PYRAMID 7 floats an inflatable, lifescale replica of one of the enigmatic basalt pyramids of Plaine-Magnien, in the south-east of Mauritius. Suspended upside down, it shifts the perspective from which this monument is viewed, a monument whose origins have inspired both historical research and esoteric speculations as well as popular narratives. Around it, five totemic structures present the video testimonies of those who have become its guardians. Conceived in the short format of social media content, these voices form a polyphony in which archives, beliefs, interpretations and theories intersect without any one of them prevailing. Using humour and synthetic materials to desacralise without discrediting, Charles-Arthur Feuvrier Fok-Shan reasserts heritage as a territory of projections, memory, and ongoing negotiation.

Charles-Arthur Feuvrier Fok-Shan explores the collective imaginaries of the southwestern Indian Ocean through hybrid installations that combine sculpture and video. By bringing together sculptural forms and a critical perspective, he reimagines the myths that permeate the islands of the Mascarene Archipelago, while examining how narratives are created, circulated, and transformed within processes of creolization. His work highlights the tensions between belief, representation, and the construction of identities.
