Here dense vegetation, stones and earth emerge through a crumbling wall, as though another landscape had always existed behind the architecture. Living and artificial plants coexist throughout the installation, blurring distinctions between natural growth and theatrical artifice. Urbano describes this hidden place as one that escapes analysis and classification, allowing nature to exist according to its own agency rather than human design. Occupying the threshold between ruin and regeneration, the work imagines architecture as a porous structure through which another landscape gradually appears. According to Urbano, the installation does not replicate nature but “imitates its life”, treating architecture as a host for processes of growth and transformation.

Álvaro Urbano’s work approaches architecture as a site shaped by memory, desire, and projection. Through sculptural installations, he constructs environments in which vegetal forms appear both living and artificial, unsettling distinctions between the organic and the constructed. Drawing on theatrical and cinematic registers, he composes spaces as sequences or scenes, where light, sound and objects contribute to a shifting atmosphere.
