Founded in the nineteenth century to support the excellence of Lyon’s silk industry, the Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs de Lyon today houses a unique collection spanning 4,500 years of textile creation and decorative arts from around the world. With more than two million objects, it holds the world’s largest textile collection and stands as a major reference institution both in France and internationally. Currently closed to the public for renovation works, the museum is exceptionally reopening its doors for the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, with the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.
